Maldini has revealed the reason for the signing Olivier Giroud
AC Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini has revealed the reason for the signing of France striker Olivier Giroud because of the need for experienced players.
The France international is expected to arrive in Milan on Thursday. But will make his debut against the Serie A giants on Friday.
The Rossoneri will sign the 2018 World Cup winner for €2 million from Chelsea.
“Yes, Olivier Giroud should arrive on Thursday, Olivier is the champion. He’s done great things with France and Chelsea,” Maldini said.
“He is a reliable player. And that’s what we’re looking for. Because we have the youngest team in Serie A so we need someone with more experience.”
The 34-year-old striker will sign a two-year contract with Milan. And will be a key striker while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out with a knee injury.
Giroud joined Chelsea from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring 90 goals in 255 Premier League games and 39 goals in 119 games for the Blues.
